Our technical manager, Ingvar Hansson, was invited by ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions Denmark to conduct SW300 training in Nuuk, Greenland, this February. He was joined by Carsten Meents (technical sales), Ole Harlev Madsen (architect consultant) from ASSA ABLOY Denmark, and Bent Strand (architect) from Arkitema.
The training focused on engineers and installers working on SW300 installations at Dronning Ingrids Hospital. Using a temporary double-door setup, we trained 26 engineers from Polar El, Bröndum, Arssanerit, and Carl Lynge ApS. The sessions covered both theory and hands-on installation, including synchronization, coordination units, and SP59-M sensors. The training was well received, with excellent feedback from participants.
Greenland itself is a fascinating place. Nuuk, with a population of about 20,000, is a small but vibrant capital. We had the chance to explore the Nuup Kangerlua fjord during a three hour boat trip, where extraordinary amounts of blue ice floated due to lot´s of ice released from the glaciers deeper in the fjord. The public service level is comparable to European countries, and while prices are reasonable, fuel costs stand out (positively!) —petrol at 5 DKK per liter.
If you ever get the chance to visit Greenland, it’s well worth experiencing its unique landscapes and culture.
